From a young age I have always loved animals and nature. Growing up in The Netherlands in a small city, I dreamed of the Amazon basin, the Great Barrier Reef and the Serengeti. I was addicted to watching National Geographic and Animal Planet, and David Attenborough and Steve Irwin are still my heroes.
At nineteen years old I decided to travel, and went on a trip to Costa Rica. After having had an incredible time volunteering with leatherback turtles and travelling around Panama and Nicaragua as well, I was totally stung by the travel bug. I went home and saved up, and in the next two years visited Australia, New Zealand, and a large part of South East Asia. Since then I have lived in London and have been lucky to own a dog walking business, and travel here and there to wonderful places like Morocco and Mexico.
I was happy to work with dogs for some years, but have realised that my bigger passion is to travel more and to contribute to the conservation of this planet we live on. I have been inspired by many amazing people who make an effort to reduce waste and be more mindful of how their lifestyle affects the environment. I also love to volunteer, for example last year I spend the winter in Bolivia to volunteer with rescued wildlife.
I believe in working to make the world a better place, and will continue to strive towards that goal in any way possible. This website is a part of that ambition.
I hope Roam with Love speaks to you and will inspire you to start your own adventure, travel to the places you dream of, and help the world become a better place along the way.
